Frequently Asked Questions
Who runs the Northern Writers Studio?
The Studio is run by Sarah Davy, who is responsible for every aspect of operations. Emails, social media, planning, programming and whatever else crops up. Sarah engages Northern writers to lead workshops and activities.
Where do you get your funding?
We don't receive any funding. All income comes from ticket sales for events, workshops and courses. We also accept donations to help cover running costs and fund free places for low-income writers via KoFi.
I'm not Northern - can I join in?
Yes! Everyone is welcome to take part in our activities. We're a friendly community and our purpose is to bring writers together. Our free spaces are only available to Northern writers and our workshops are led by Northern writers, as part of our effort to provide opportunities for, you guessed it, Northern writers.
Can I run a workshop?
If you're a Northern published writer with experience delivering workshops, we would love to talk to you. We programme at least six months in advance so it may be a little while before we can work together. Get in touch and we'll get back to you.
